Actually, I like the rain, except when I have to commute in it. But I do think that the rain predicted for today and Sunday is going to put a damper (that only sounds like a pun) on our usual activities.
What do you do with an 18-month-old who would love it if I just sat next to her and let her watch Elmo all day long? Because I’m not going to let her do that.

I would sit and watch Elmo all day.
I cannot deny that this approach has its merits.
Maybe Elmo can help you with numbers and colors and shapes and textures and oh my—what fun to be 18 months old and full of wonder—–happy playing! barb
Oh, Elmo has his merits! I just think that all day of any one thing isn’t good. Plus she’ll think–and trust me, she will–that a whole day of TV is her new normal. It’s hard enough to limit Elmo to after dinner now! I’m trying to spread out her devotion with bribes in the form of Elmo books (she kisses them goodnight–it’s adorable) and, soon, an Elmo doll. One that doesn’t take batteries.
